Built for people with busy, unpredictable timetables
Many people in and around Hayes work in jobs tied to Heathrow, logistics, warehousing, hospitality and care, where finishing times move from week to week. A fixed class every Tuesday does not always survive that.
That is why we offer a spread of group times and flexible one-to-one lessons. You agree a plan with your tutor, adjust it when your rota changes, and keep moving towards your test date.
Every course trains all four skills the exam covers: speaking, listening, reading and writing, with plenty of spoken practice so you are not meeting the format for the first time on the day.
A good fit if you are...
- Applying to join your husband, wife or partner in the UK
- Renewing a family visa and moving up from A1 to A2
- Aiming for settlement after years of living here
- Preparing a citizenship application
- On a Skilled Worker route and need to evidence your English
- Returning to English after a long break
Which test level is yours?
Think about where you are in your immigration journey. These are the most common pairings, offered as a starting guide only.
Often asked for when you apply from abroad to join a spouse or partner.
Usually the next step when your partner visa needs extending.
The common benchmark when you apply for permanent settlement.
Generally the same level again for naturalisation applications.
Immigration rules change from time to time. Check the current Home Office guidance for your route before booking a test, and bring any questions to your assessment.

Live online group classes give you a steady routine and the chance to practise with other learners. They work well if you have predictable evenings or weekends.
One-to-one lessons are the better choice if your hours change, your deadline is close, or one skill, usually speaking, is holding you back. Your tutor spends the whole session on your weak spots.
Not sure yet? Start with an assessment and we will recommend one, or a blend of the two.

Hayes learners often ask
I work shifts around Heathrow. Can I still study?
Yes. Evening and weekend classes are available, and one-to-one lessons can be fitted around a rota. Tell us your working pattern at the assessment and we will suggest a realistic weekly plan.
Should I choose a group class or one-to-one lessons?
Group classes suit learners who like practising with others and have regular free evenings. One-to-one suits you if your hours change often, you have a deadline, or you want more speaking practice with a tutor. A mix of both is also possible.
My English is quite basic. Is it too early to start?
No. Many learners begin at A1 with very little confidence. The assessment shows where you are now, and your tutor builds a plan from there.
Which level do I need for my application?
As a general guide, A1 is for entry as a partner or spouse, A2 for extending that visa, and B1 for ILR, settlement or citizenship. Rules change, so check current Home Office guidance, and we will help you confirm the level.
Can I come to the centre in person?
Most Hayes learners study online, but you are welcome to get in touch about visiting the centre in Ilford. A direct Elizabeth line journey connects Hayes and Harlington with Ilford; check a journey planner for current times.
Do you teach anything besides SELT English?
Yes. We run Life in the UK test classes for settlement and nationality applications, and driving theory test classes.
